Dompet Dhuafa Targets IDR 200 Billion Zakat in Ramadan 2019
Jakarta, MINA – Welcoming Ramadan 1440 H, Indonesian Non-Government Organization, Dompet Dhuafa intensified efforts to increase public awareness to alleviate poverty. This year’s Ramadan, Dompet Dhuafa is targeting zakat revenues to IDR 200 billion.
Previously, the number of beneficiaries of Dompet Dhuafa from 1993 to 2018 was recorded 19.13 million people from various services. The collection in 2018 reached IDR 312.50 billion, equivalent to 0.11 percent of the State Budget (APBN) in poverty alleviation sector.
Data from Central Statistics Agency show that the percentage of Indonesian poverty in 2018 was 91.72 percent or around 23.8 million people had not been touched assistances. Whereas until now, the potential of national zakat based on data from Indonesian Ministry of Religion is IDR 217 trillion.
“Public awareness in conducting Ziswaf transactions is still lacking. Dompet Dhuafa in filling Ramadhan 1440 H, tries to keep on and closer to the community through concoctions of empowerment programs and special Ramadan programs,” said Imam Rulyawan, Director of Dompet Dhuafa Philanthropy, in his statement on Wednesday.
These programs include Palestinian School, Spreading Zakat Alms, Grebek Village, Ramadhan Parcel, Mudik Post, Home Stay, Friends Sharing Hope.
He continued in facilitating zakat communities, digital services continued to be improved, starting from optimizing social media, websites, designing online donation channels, partnering with e-commerce, charity pick-up services to auto debit. Collaboration with various e-commerce companies and online donation channels aims to attract millennials. (T/Sj/R04)
