INDONESIAN PRESIDENT SBY WANTS CONTINUOUS TRANSITION

Nusa Dua, 1 Dhulqaidah 1435/27 August 2014 (MINA) – Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) said he wanted the next government will be able to continue the previous administration programs well and sustainable.

“I want the next administration can continue the previous agenda. This transition should run well and sustainable, ” said Yudhoyono in a press conference at the Laguna Resort, Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday.

President also declared that he is ready to help Jokowi government. “We are ready to help Pak Jokowi to do the best for this nation,” he said.

Meanwhile, the president-elect Joko (Jokowi) Widodo said he will always coordinate with the previous government to create a sustainable government.

However, in a closed meeting, both have not discussed technical matters of government. “It will be coordinated by the previous ministers. This is not our last meeting, but there will be further meetings, ” he added.

According to SBY, no specific agenda for the first meeting with the president-elect Jokowi.

“What I did for 10 years in running the government would be useful for Pak Jokowi,” he said.

Jokowi and SBY met in Bali as scheduled. President Yudhoyono was accompanied by the Minister of Education Muhammad Nuh, Minister of Communication and Information Tifatul Sembiring, Coordinator Minister of Politics, Law and Security Djoko Suyanto and the Coordinator Minister for Economic Affairs Chairul Tanjung.

In previous reports, the President held closed talks with Jokowi. According to Jokowi, one of the agenda is the 2015 draft budget cocerning the fuel issue.

The meeting was initiated by SBY and Jokowi welcomed it. The main goal is that the next government can run well. “This moment was the first time since the independence, we had the opportunity to make a planned transition. Hopefully it become a tradition of our democracy, ” said SBY. (L/P011/R03/P3)
