Hamas Congratulates Erdogan for Victory’s Local Election
Gaza, MINA – Palestinian resistance movement, Hamas group in Gaza congratulated Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan for victory of his party, AK Party in local elections.
“Hamas congratulated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish people for the success of local elections, which attracted many voters and reflected how civilized Turkish people are. They show good examples of democratic process,” Hamas said in a statement on its website, reported at Anadolu Agency , Tuesday.
Hamas hopes that Turkey can become a prosperous country in the future. Previously, on Sunday, millions of Turkish citizens gave their voting rights nationally in the elections.
They choose mayors, city council members, muhktars (community environmental officials) and senior board members for the next five years. Quoted from Al-Jazeera based on interim results, the AK Party was superior with 52.5 percent of the votes of 75 percent of voters who had distributed their votes.
Nation Alliance which is a coalition of opposition party (CHP) got a vote of 37.2 percent. Meanwhile, the People’s Alliance (Cumhur Ittifaki) collected a majority of votes or 51.62 percent against their rival Nation Alliance (Millet Ittifaki).
People’s Alliance consists of AK Party and Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) who join to win the election. Their opposition has formed the Nation Alliance that unites Republican People’s Party (CHP).
Good Party and Felicity party jointly support candidates with each other in local elections. The party received 37.56 percent of the vote in all of Turkey. The number of voters in local elections was 84.67 percent with 48.3 million votes. (T/Sj/P2)
