Shah Alam, 09 Muharram 1438/10 October 2016 (MINA) – A delegation of non-governmental organisations (NGO) from ASEAN nations Sunday condemned the United Nations (UN) Security Council for rejecting motions for a truce and the opening of a route to channel humanitarian aid to Syria.
The 14 NGOs arrived at a consensus on the matter after holding a special meeting Sunday to discuss issues related to the war torn country, Bernama repoted.
Among the NGOs were the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation (Mapim); Secretariat for the Assembly of Ulama of Asia (SHURA); BAPA Relief, Singapore; Aqsa Working Group (AWG), Indonesia; Humanitarian and Justice Organisation Cambodia (HJO); and Council for Humanitarian Networking of Sheikhul Islam, Thailand.
From Cairo, WAM reported that Arab League Secretary-General, Dr. Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, has expressed his disappointment at the UN Security Council, UNSC, for failing to reach a unified stand for a ceasefire agreement in Aleppo, Syria.

The agreement would have allowed the entry of urgent humanitarian aid to Aleppo, in addition to the evacuation of the sick and wounded from the city.
The Secretary-General is hoping that UNSC’s members “rise above their differences and find ways to solve the ongoing crisis in Aleppo”.(T/R07/R01)
