The International Media Conference for Palestinian Struggle to be Held in Jakarta

Jakarta, 15 Sha’ban 1437/23 May 2016 (MINA)  – Indonesia is slated to hold the International Conference of Islamic Media (ICIM) in Jakarta from May 25 to 26 with the main goal to mobilize media support in building public awareness on Palestinian cause and the liberation of Al Aqsa Mosque.

Bearing the theme “uniting the step of islamic media struggle for the defense of Muslims and Palestinian Independence and the Liberation of al-Aqsa Mosque”, the two-day international event is very important for the liberation of al-Aqsa and the independence of Palestine amid a marginalized media attention and lacking of media coverage to the Palestinian cause.

Chairman of the ICIM Steering Committee (SC)  Yakhsyallah Mansur said Al Aqsa and Palestine issue is a challenge for Muslims. Solutions to these problems should be sought immediately.

“When we see the Palestinian issue what can we do to them?” Mansur said during a press conference at the Office of MER-C, Kramat Lontar, Central Jakarta, Monday (23/5).

Islam, says Mansur, teaches to always do good to anyone, both Muslims and non-Muslims, especially to the Palestinian question. Mansur realized this time the media plays an important role in the community life. The media becomes powerful forces in the world.

Therefore, it is important according to Mansur, the media is involved in the liberation efforts of Al Aqsa and Palestine. Media is also expected to play a vital role in resolving the problems of other countries.

ICIM is held  by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) in cooperation with  the Antara National News Agency (LKBN) and the Republika daily, along with the Radio Rasil and humanitarian aid organisation MER-C.

The organisers have invited Dr. Shamsi Ali (USA), Dr. Daud Abdullah (England), Sheikh Ahmad Shoyyan (Saudi Arabia), and Ahmad Ashaaf (Palestine), Dr. Abdul Malik (Nigeria), and Meidyatama Suryodiningrat (Indonesia) to present their views on the issue.  (L/P008/R07)
