Palestinian Security Officer Shot by Israeli Gunfire in Nablus

Nablus, MINA – Israeli forces opened fire at Palestinian security forces in the northern West Bank city of Nablus, injuring an officer.

Nablus Governor Ibrahim Ramdan said that in the early morning hours a large Israeli military force besieged and opened fire at a Palestinian Preventive Security compound “surprisingly, directly and unjustifiably”, injuring an officer and smashing several windows.

According to WAFA, Ramadan added that the officer, who remained unidentified, sustained light wounds.

No casualties were reported among Israeli soldiers.

Israeli military said that an accidental firefight broke out with Palestinian security forces whom were mistakenly identified as “suspects”.

Ramdan rejected Israeli military’s claim that there was a fire exchange.

“This is not the first time and will not be the last that Israeli occupation forces harms our people, but the dangerous part in the incident is that a Palestinian military headquarters was targeted,” he said.

He asserted that Israeli forces opened fire at the Preventive Security headquarters “with the intent to kill” as he spotted bullet holes inside the headquarters.
