Jokowi Scheduled to open the 2018 Asian Games

Jakarta, MINA –  The biggest sporting event in Asia will kick of soon. The Indonesian Presiden Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is slated to open the 2018 Asian Games.

This is a grand event that will catapult the reputation of the nation on the world stage and become the pride of all Indonesian people. The continental multi-sport event will be held in a magnificent and spectacular performance.

The opening ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games will be held on August 18 at 19:00 WIB at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta.

President of the Asian Olympic Council (OCA), Sheikh Ahmad Al Fahda Al Sabah and Chair of the 2018 Asian Games Organizing Committee, Erick Thohir will accompany the President of the Republic of Indonesia in welcoming the participants.

At the opening ceremony designed by Wishnutama as Creative Director, there will also be Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea, Lee Nak-Yeon.

The opening ceremony will feature the biggest stage ever at the opening ceremony of the multi-event sports competition. With a total weight of 600 tons and a length of 120 meters, 30 meters wide and 26 meters high, the stage will be the setting when 6,000 athletes and officials from all contingents march under the banner of their country.

During the parade there will be 44 countries that appear because the Republic of Korea and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea will be in one flag, Korea. In the parade, each country will be led by a country nameplate that wears Garuda bird-style clothes designed by Dynand Fariz, founder of Jember Fashion Carnival.

In the opening ceremony of the 2018 Asian Games there will also be the flag raising event of  the Red and White flag carried out by the Flag hoisting national troop (Paskibraka) consistng of people with the formation of 17 people as bodyguards, 8 people as flag bearers and 45 people as guards drawing Indonesian independence day, 17 August 1945.(LT/R04/RS5)
