Jakarta, 7 Safar 1437/19 November 2015 (MINA) – Indonesia should not be dependent solely on labor-intensive industry that employs many workers in large numbers to face global competition

The country in the future should start forming oriented industries that are technology intensive, supported by skilled workers and those having labor competency certificate.

“To encourage the national industry with high competitiveness, Indonesia should begin to build oriented technology-intensive industries in various parts of Indonesia,” Employment Minister M Hanif Dhakiri in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/11).

Hanif said in building a technology-intensive industry in Indonesia there is a challenge in itself. This is related to the availability of qualified human resources and the subtantial amount of labor force nationwide.

“When the orientation is a competitive national industry, we need a technology-intensive industry. The problem is how to shape our human resources? The amount and quality of technology-intensive industries however should also be parallel with the number of our national workforce. This challenge is not easy to deal with, “said Hanif.
