Indonesia Focuses on Developing Aircraft Industry Independently
Jakarta, MINA – Director General of Research and Development Strengthening Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education Muhammad Dimyati said the government along with various related parties continued to focus on developing independently aircraft industry in Indonesia.
“Indonesia is a large country consists of many islands, therefore commercial aircraft is very important for Indonesia because it is the backbone of economic growth. Considering Indonesia’s geographical conditions are in dire need of aircraft for inter-island connectivity, ” Muhammad said at the 2018 Aero Summit at Kartika Chandra Hotel, South Jakarta, Tuesday (25/9).
The Head of the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (LAPAN) Thomas Djamaluddin also revealed that the 2018 Aero Summit aims to discuss Indonesia’s efforts in realizing independence in the field of aviation and space technology.
There are some of the strategies needed to achieve it by carrying out independent engineering and design such as, national projects N219, R80, and N245, strengthening strategic partners both at home and abroad, and human resources with inviting partners from countries that have high technology to invest and move technology competencies in Indonesia.
Currently, LAPAN has built synergies with various partners such as Indonesia Aeronautical Engineering Center (IAEC), Indonesia Aircraft Component Manufacturer Association (INACOM), Indonesia Aircraft Maintenance Service Association (IAMSA), PT DI, PT RAI and GMF AeroAsia.
The 2018 Aero Summit was attended by Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Maritime Industry Director of Transportation and Defense Equipment, Ministry of Industry Putu Juli Ardika, Charman of 2018 Aero Summit Coordination Board Dadang Furqon Erawan, Deputy of Air and Space Technology Rica Andianti, Head of Aviation Technology Center Gunawan Prabowo, and other invited guests.
