Gaza, 17 Rabiul Awwal 1438/17 December 2016 (MINA) – Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyadh Al-Malki called on the international community Friday to punish Israel for its crimes against Palestinians, saying Israel’s siege on Gaza Strip must be lifted immediately.

Al-Malki called for a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution condemning Jewish settlements, and asked for the International Court of Justice’s opinion regarding Israel’s abidance with its UN membership, specially regarding UN resolution 181 concerning land and refugees.

Al-Malki was speaking at a joint news conference with Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom following their meeting in the West Bank city of Ramallah.

He said an international peace conference in Paris should be held in order to counter the Israeli refusal to all initiatives aimed at ending occupation and expansion of settlements on Palestinian territories.

Al-Malki thanked Sweden for its 100 million euro financial assistance to the Palestinians, in addition to supporting the UN Palestine agency (UNRWA).

Wallstrom said the Paris peace conference should succeed because it would have positive outcome on all parties, as it would seek to provide an international sponsorship for the resumption of peace talks between the Israleis and Palestinians.

She said Sweden sought the building of trust and peace between the Palestinians and Israelis, and it would do its best to achieve this goal.
