SOURCES : CARTER SEEKS PALESTINIAN RECONCILIATION WITH SAUDI MEDIATION
Washington, 4 Rajab 1436/23 April 2015 (MINA) – Arab and Palestinian diplomatic sources unveiled an effort led by former US President Jimmy Carter to move the Palestinian reconciliation file with Saudi mediation.
The sources, who spoke to Al Quds Press anonymously, explained that Carter has already presented his initiative twice,
One in the Qatari capital Doha when he visited it in mid-March and met with the head of Hamas’s Political Bureau Khaled Mashaal, and again in the Saudi capital Riyadh where he met Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz and a number of Saudi officials, Middle East Mnitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
According to Quds Press sources, Carter received a positive response from the two parties regarding the need to seek to end the division and achieve reconciliation.
He also found Saudi to be ready to make any effort that would resolve this file which has been ongoing for a long period, providing that the two parties declare agree.”
Many believe that, with Egypt busy managing its internal affairs, Riyadh will lead efforts to bring about a resolution to the Palestinian situation. (T/P002/R03)
