Indonesia Condemns Israel's Unilateral Closure of TIPH

New York, MINA – Indonesia condemned Israel’s unilateral decision on the closure of the International Monitoring Mission or Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) in the West Bank, Palestine.

“The international community needs to address the situation in Gaza immediately, which is very alarming,” said Indonesian Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Dian Triansyah Djani at a UN Security Council monthly meeting on Wednesday in New York, United States.

Djani also stressed Indonesia’s position to condemn the unilateral closure, which could endanger Palestinians.

The TIPH was formed in 1994 based on an agreement between Israel and Palestine, and as mandated by the UN Security Council Resolution.

Indonesia condemned it because the TIPH is a mechanism to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians in Hebron, especially against violations of international humanitarian law and human rights. (TR/Sj/P2)
