Qatar Assists Gaza More Than $1.1 Billion

Doha, MINA – The Government of Qatar From 2012 to 2018 have provided funding for the Palestinians in Gaza Strip and Hamas Movement, totaling more than $1.1 billion, but with the approval of Israeli Government.

According to the Haaretz News Agency, the information about financial assistance was collected by international organizations and submitted to the Israeli security cabinet in January 2019.

In 2018, Qatar gave Hamas $200 million in humanitarian aid, fuel, government salaries, and pledged to provide hundreds of millions more dollars to UN humanitarian aid agencies. As reported by Maan, Monday..

Local sources reported that around 44 percent of the assistance of Qatar during 2018 was invested in infrastructure, around 40 percent in education, health, and in support the Hamas struggle and Islamic movement groups in Gaza.

Qatar also provided $50 million to the United Nations Aid and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) with the approval of the Israeli government.

In January 2019, Qatar signed an agreement to donate $500 million US to UNRWA as operational in Gaza. This money will help 180,000 Palestinians and reduce unemployment in Gaza.
