Jokowi Orders Investigation of Two-Dead College Students During Demontration

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian President, Joko Widodo ordered an investigation into the deaths of Randi and Yusuf Kardawi, two College students of Halu Oleo University in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi during a demonstration which took place at the Regional Parliament Building on Thursday, September 26.

“I have also ordered to investigate and inspect the entire ranks, because what was conveyed by the National Police Chief to me, there was no order whatsoever in the context of this demonstration carrying weapons. So, there will be further investigation, “President Jokowi said after holding Friday Prayers, in the Presidential Palace area, Jakarta, Friday.

Regarding the evaluation of National Police Chief, President Jokowi emphasized that he had ordered that the demonstration was not repressive in handling demonstrations. Because the demonstration expresses opinion, and it is guaranteed by the constitution.

To the parents of Randi and Yusuf Qardhawi, President Jokowi prayed that he would be given fortitude and excitement over the death of their children.

“Hopefully, what is fought by Randi and Yusuf Qardhawi to be good for this nation and get a good, noble place on His side,” he said.

Based on an autopsy by a team of doctors at the Kendari City General Hospital, Randy (21) died shot by a bullet in the lower left armpit through to the right.

Meanwhile, Qardhawi (19) who had experienced a coma, but died due to severe bleeding due to a blunt object collision in the head. (T/Sj/P2)
