Indonesian Karateka Wins Gold in Men’s Kumite -60kg

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian men’s Karateka Rifki Ardiansyah Arrosyiid won gold in the kumite 60 kilogram category in the 2018 Asian Games at the Plenary Hall, JCC Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday. With the victory, Rifki contributed to the Indonesian contingent’s gold medal collection, which now stands at 11.

Rifki won the title after defeating Iran karateka Amir Mahdi Zadeh with a final score of 9-7.

Earlier in the round of 16 of the kumite 60 kg, Rifki defeated Thailand’s Sireka Siravit Sawangsri with a score of 5-1.

In the last eight he defeated Chinese karateka Hu Chen with a score of 8-0

In the quarterfinals, Rifki met karateka Lee Chun Ho from Hong Kong, China, beating him 3-0.

Rifki advanced to the semifinals where he defeated Malaysian karateka Prem Kumar Selvam.

Asian Games is the biggest multi-sport games after the Olympic Games. It is the most prestigious event organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, with the 18th edition held in Jakarta-Palembang in 2018. (LT/R04/P2)
