Indonesia Wins Five Medals in Rowinng
Palembang, MINA – The Indonesian team won five medals in rowing at the Jakabaring Sports City (JSC) Palembang rowing venue from Aug. 19 to 24.
Indonesia won one gold, two silver and two bronze medals, said Indonesian rowing coach Hadris Muhamad in a media statement at JSC on Friday.
Hadris Muhamad said the success of the team in winning the gold medal and several silver and bronze medals at this year’s Asian Games was the result of hard work since 2012.
The support of the government in the last six years has been encouraging and will be used as motivation for more brilliant achievement.
After winning a number of events at the 2018 Asian Games, he said, they would continue the preparation for participation in a number of international competitions, including the next Asian Games.
“We will focus on building a champion spirit for the athletes by continuing the coaching program that has been going well so far,” he said.
Meanwhile, Indonesian rowing team manager Budiman Setiawan explained that in the rowing competition, his party defeated eight teams to enter the final.
In the final of Group A on Thursday Aug. 23, only two teams were presented with medals, namely the women`s pair with the bronze medal presented by Julianti and Rokaya Yayah and the men’s lightweight four with the silver medal medal presented by Buton Ali, Ferdiansyah, Ihram and Isadi Ardi.
The first gold medal in rowing was obtained from the men’s lightweight eight, presented by Hadid Tanzil, Yakin Muhad, Darmawan Rio Rizki, Ardianto, Button Ali, Ferdiansyah, Ihram, Isadi and Hasbulloh.
Meanwhile Corputty, Rahmanjani, Julianti and Rokayah Yayah contributed one bronze medal in women’s four.
Then the men`s quadruple sculls team comprises Kusmana, Rudiana, Sulpianto and Memo M, who were presented with one silver medal to add to Indonesia’s medal collection, said Budiman.(R/r04/RS5)
