Ghosts and Too Many Doors Makes Rody Do Not Want to Live at Malacanang
Davao City, Philippines, 28 Ramadan 1437/04 July 2016 MINA) – First were the ghosts. Now, there are too many doors.
President Duterte has found another reason to avoid living in Malacañang Palace: he does not feel comfortable with the labyrinthine passageways leading to doors and more doors, which he discovered the day he was sworn into office as the 16th president of the country last Thursday, Philstar reported.
Duterte earlier said he did not want to stay in the Palace because of stories he heard about ghosts.
The President said he preferred to come home and work in this city regularly rather than spend all his time at Malacañang.
Duterte reportedly told officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines at a command conference Friday night that he had to hurry back home to Davao City because he was uncomfortable with the many doors in Malacañang.
Duterte left the AFP command conference at around 6:30 p.m. and headed straight to the airport for his flight back to Davao City on board a Gulfstream G150 aircraft, RPC 8150.
Duterte was said to have been amazed by the many exits and entrances leading from one section to another part of the Palace during the inaugural ceremonies.
He did not know where to go anymore as one door would lead to another, the President was quoted as saying.
The sprawling Malacañang Palace complex is the official residence and principal workplace of the President. It has various function rooms that can be used depending on the occasion.
But Duterte also promised to open the doors of Malacañang to the poor, with the children first in line for an educational tour. (T/R07/R01)
