Earthquake Damage 19 Buildings in Ternate

Jakarta, MINA – Ternate City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) reported that 7.1 M earthquake damaged 19 buildings in its area on Friday, November 15.

Details of damaged buildings include 15 houses, 3 churches, and 1 school. The slightly damaged houses occurred in Lelewi village, 9 units, Mayau 5, and Bido 1, while 1 unit of church was damaged.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) report, 1 damaged school facility was identified in 1 unit in Mayau Village. These three urban areas are under the administration of Batang Dua Subdistrict, which is located on a small island.

In addition to the damaged building, the report noted two people who suffered minor injuries from building materials. The two victims are from Mayau and Lelewi village. Until now, there has been no record of displaced residents.

BPBD of North Maluku Province has coordinated with regency or city BPBD, BMKG, and other related institutions to conduct post-earthquake data collection. (T/Sj/P2)
