Constitutional Court Reject Prabowo-Sandiaga Presidential Election Lawsuit (special)

Jakarta, MINA – Indonesian Constitutional Court Judge (MK) rejected all claims of 2019 Presidential Election lawsuit that were submitted by Candidate President Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno. With this, Joko Widodo-Ma’ruf Amin still win Presidential Election.

The decision was agreed by nine constitutional justices without dissent in the reading session of dispute over the 2019 Presidential Election at Constitutional Court Judge Building, Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta on Thursday, June 27.

Prabowo-Sandi Legal Team in his lawsuit filed a number of objections such as the presence of stealth polling stations, the position of Ma’ruf Amin in BNI Syariah and BRI Syariah as Sharia council, until Prabowo lost his voice in the Central Java and East Java regions.

“To reject the petition of the petitioner in its entirety,” said the Chairman of Constitutional Court Judge Anwar Usman starting the verdict.

Constitutional Court emphasized that the agency had the authority to adjudicate the petition submitted by the applicant. Despite the authority to try, the Court rejected almost all the arguments submitted by the applicant.

Constitutional Court also mentioned that there was no convincing evidence regarding the non-neutrality of the state apparatus, in this case the National Police, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) and National Army (TNI).

“The argument of the a quo petition, that the Court did not find convincing evidence for non-neutrality of the state apparatus,” said Constitutional Justice Aswanto.
