Jakarta, 17 Shawwal 1435/13 August 2014 (MINA) – Chairman of Indonesian Ulema Council/Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) , Prof. Dr. Din Syamsuddin said that political problems should not destroy ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood).
Din stated, on 39th Anniversary of MUI at Sultan Hotel on Tuesday night, People need to increase awareness in middle of various plurality, for the sake of Islam and God’s glorious sentence.
He added that Indonesian Muslims are not only quantitative majority, but also qualitative and creative majority, that are more important.
Din said that realizing Islamic brotherhood broadly is by giving solidarity and support for Palestinian brothers and sisters.

The event were attended by Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, Palestinian Ambassador, Ambassador of Libya, Ambassador of Sudan, Ambassador of Norway, and a number of ulemas including Prof. K.H. Maman Abdurrahman, Yusuf Mansur, Dr. Syafi Antonio, novelist of Islamic Habiburrahman El-Shiraji, and others.
Vice chairman of MUI, Dr. K.H. Ma’ruf Amin, added, in fact fellow Muslims are brothers and sisters, it is even strong than siblings.
According to him, Muslims should develop mutual understanding to establish brotherhood among Muslims although They had different views or sects.
At the event, MUI cooperated with Erlangga publisher in launching a book titled “Himpunan Fatwa Keuangan Syariah Dewan Nasional MUI ” (The List of Sharia Financial Fatwas, MUI National Council).
The event will be followed by National Meeting of MUI with theme “Strengthening role of MUI in Repairing Moral of Nations and Strengthening Economy of People,” Wednesday-Thursday, 13-14 August 2014.

Materials of the National Meeting are Building religious life and Repairing Moral of Nation (by Minister of Religion, H.Lukman Hakim Saifuddin); Improving Quality of Human Resources and Repairing Moral of Nations (by Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Dr. H.H Nuh) and the role of Islamic Economics in National Economic Policies for Dealing with Economic Community of ASEAN (by Minister of Economic Affair, H.
