Srinagar,17 Jumadil Akhir 1438/16 March 2017 (MINA) – Hizbul Mujahedeen commander Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Zakir Musa on Tuesday unveiled his pan-Islamic agenda and called on the Valle’s stone throwers to fight for the implementation of Sharia (Islamic law) and supremacy of Islam in Jammu and Kashmir.

Zakir, who is believed to be the successor of slain Hizbul Mujahedeen poster boy Burhan Wani, released a 6:13 minute-long video asking stone throwers to take a vow to fight for Sharia enforcement as nationalism and democracy is forbidden in Islam.

“I want to ask our stone-pelter brothers for what and against whom are they fighting? Stone pelters should not be fighting for nationalism. I see most of the people here are following nationalism. Nationalism and democracy is forbidden in Islam. Our stones and weapons should not be to fight for Kashmir. It should be for the supremacy of Islam so that Sharia is enforced here,” dnaindia.com quoted Zakir as saying in Urdu.

Hailing from an affluent family in Noorpora in Tral, Zakir had left the civil engineering programme at a Chandigarh college and joined Hizbul in 2013. Zakir’s father is an engineer by profession.

Sporting a black cap, Zakir is seen in the video wearing a golden jacket. Looking composed, Zakir is seen with an automatic rifle resting on his right side with a logo of Hizbul Mujahedeen in the inset.

“These munafqeen (hypocrites) live in an illusion that they have inflicted defeat on us by killing mujahdeen (militants). In fact, it is our victory because what else can be a bigger win than laying down our lives in the path of Islam and for Prophet Muhammad. Defeat will be if you remove the sentiment of jihad from our hearts and minds. Living or dead, we are victorious in both ways,” he said.

Zakir also warned policemen and informers asking them to return to the path of piety and to seek forgiveness from the Almighty Allah. “Tyrant always uses Jammu and Kashmir policemen as shields. Informers who pass the information to forces about militants constantly live in fear. Door is always open for forgiveness. You should seek forgiveness and return to piety,” he said.

It is not the first time that Zakir has released a video to reach out to the people in Kashmir. (T//RS5/RS1)
