Indonesian Govt Officially Issues Regulation To dissolve Anti-Pancasila Organization

Jakarta, 18 Syawwal 1438/12 July 2017 (MINA) -Indonesian government officially issued a regulation in lieu of law (Perppu) on Hizbut Tahrir which is claimed  anti-Pancasila.

The Perppu was announced by the Coordinating Minister for political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto in a press conference at his office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday.

According to Wiranto, the Perppu has been signed by President Jokowi since two days ago, Kumparan.com reported.

“The government considersed to issue Perppu No. 2 of 2017 as the amendment of Law No. 17 of 2013 on Community Organization dated on July 10, 2017. So Perppu has been issued 2 days ago,” said Wiranto.

Wiranto explained, the consideration of the issuance of the Perppu is the former Law is no longer sufficient to prevent people from any organization that contradict with Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, either on the substantive nor procedural aspects.

The other consideration is the former law just mention atheism, marxism and leninism as anti-Pancasila, whereas there are other ideology that are also contrary to Pancasila.

Hizbut-Tahrir is an international political organization which aims to establishment Caliphate or Islamic state.

The organization was founded in 1953  in Al Quds by Taqiuddin al-Nabhani, an Islamic scholar and appeals court judge (Qadi) from Palestine. Since then Hizbut-Tahrir has spread to more than 50 countries. Hizb ut-Tahrir is very active in Western countries, particularly in the United Kingdom, and also in several Arab and Central Asian countries, despite being banned by some governments. (L/R04/P2)
