Imam of Aqsa Mosque Arrives Indonesia
Jakarta, 9 Ramadan 1438/4 June 2017 (MINA) – Pursuing a better relationship between Indonesian and Palestinian people, Imam of Al-Aqsa mosque Sheikh DR. Mustafa Mohammad Abdel Rahman Tawil landed in Soekarno Hatta international airport, Jakarta, Sunday (4/6) afternoon.
During his 16-days visit, Tawil will lead prayer and deliver Palestinian current issues in at least eight provinces in Indonesia, such as Jakarta, Banten, West Java, Lampung, West Kalimantan, West Nusa Tenggara, and etc.
On his first arrival in the majority Muslim country, Tawil was greeted by The Charge d’Affaires interim of Palestinian Embassy to Indonesia Taher Hamad along with General Chairman of Aqsa Working Group (AWG) Agus Sudarmaji and Nur Ikhwan Abadi who once led the construction of Indonesian Hospital in Gaza Strip.
AWG, as the host, known for its long standing support for Palestinian causes based in Jakarta. The humanitarian agency will host what so called “Ramadan Silaturahim for Indonesian-Palestinian Relationship” starting from 6-22 of June.
Agus Sudarmaji said that the main activities of Tawil visit here is holding Ramadan prayer known as Taraweh with Muslim brothers in Indonesia, as well as, meeting with authorities regarding Palestinian current issues.
Tawil is one of scholars born in Al-Quds City, Palestine in 1955. He has been assigned several times as officials in courts such as Chief Justice of the Palestinian Supreme Court and Sharia Supreme Court Judge since 2006.
He also served as Chief Justice of Sharia High Court in 2015. He now serves as one of Al-Aqsa Mosque custodian as well as one of the advisors to the Supreme Court Judge. He also serves as an Extraordinary Lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Al-Quds University of Palestine.(L/RE1/P2)
