INDONESIA PRESIDENT SBY TO INAUGURATE IMAAM CENTER IN US

Jakarta, 24 Dzulqa’dah 1435/18 September 2014 (MINA) – Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) planned to inaugurate the Indonesian Association of Muslim in America Center (IMAAM Center) in Washington DC, capital of the United States (USA), 20 -26 September.

The Special Staff President of International Relation, Teuku Faizasyah in a release on Wednesday afternoon (17 september) said, IMAAM Center was place for gathering Muslims in Washington DC.

“The President also planned to meet and dialogue with Muslim leaders of the United States. The meeting will discuss latest developments in the Islamic world, including instability in Middle East region,” said Teuku Faizasyah, the President staff.

IMAAM was a social community established by Indonesian Muslims in America in 1993. The organisation holds Islamic activities actively, including establishing a mosque in Washington. IMAAM community has approximately 2,000 members.

IMAAM purchased building of First Baptist Church Montgomery Maryland as a mosque on July 2014.

SBY visit actually to attend the 69th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.”The President plan to deliver a speech in the general debate of the session, deliver a speech to Military Academy cadets of the United States in Westpoint, as well as in the Global Green Growth Institute forum,” he added.

According to him, the President also planned to lead the plenary session of the UN Climate Summit (UN Climate Summit) in 2014 and attended the Open Government Partnership High Level Event (OGP-HLE).

Indonesia  joined the leaders of OGP-HLE with Mexico and two civil society organizations, Twaweze and the Revenue Watch Institute.

” The presence of the president in some forum is also to struggle Indonesia’s strategic agenda, both thre issue of governance and sustainable development,” Faizasyah explained.

Previously, Teuku Faizasyah received delegations from Islamic and humanitarian agencies. They were the Jama’ah Muslimin (Hizbullah), the Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), Aqsa Working Group (AWG), Network Islamic boarding of Al-Fatah Indonesia, High Education Shuffah Quran Abdullah bin Mas’ud Online (SQAM ) and Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

The delegations on behalf of participants of the International Conference of Al-Quds and Palestine Liberation in Bandung in 2012 urged the government to support Palestinian struggle.

The delegation also urged Indonesian government to put representatives officially in Gaza due to the reconciliation of Palestinian government, establishment of Indonesian Hospital in Gaza with full support from Indonesian people. (T/P4/P009/R03)
