VP Kalla: Strong Multilateral Partnership to Overcome World Tensions

Buenos Aires, MINA – Indonesian Vice President, Jusuf Kalla (JK) asserted the G20 Heads of State and International Organization Leaders to return with a joint commitment realizing a strong multilateral partnership.

“Sustainable development and climate change are two global issues that are closely related. They need to be addressed together,” explained JK, who was appointed as the main speaker ini G-20 Meeting, as quoted from the press release of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.

The G20 Summits qkakwhich was ended in Buenos Aires yesterday has succeeded in Agreement with Declaration of Building Consensus for Fair and Sustainable Development. This declaration is the result of tough negotiations carried out in a marathon and intensive since a week ago by the team of sherpa negotiators and the G20 finance track.

There are some important issues of the declaration such as, international trade which can affect global economic growth, multilateral cooperation based on the world order and law, a stable international financial system, handling the problems of migration and refugees, climate change, agricultural and energy security, economic digitalization that can support development equity and financial inclusion.

In addition, the issues relate to the handling of anti-corruption and efforting to stop the flow of funds related to terrorism and other crimes are also discussed in the declaration.

Meanwhile, Indonesia is succeeded in entering a number of issues that are interest and priorities of the declaration, including the development of financial innovation through business models with digitalization of the economy and the issue of renewable energy references.
