UNWRA Distributes Sacrificial lambs to Palestinians Families

Gaza, 13 Dzulhijjah 1437/14 September 2016 (MINA) – The United Nations Relief Works Agency (UNRWA) announced Wednesday distributing hundreds of Eid Adha sacrificial lambs to thousands of low-income Palestinian families in Gaza strip.

Every three families would share a sheep, MINA quoted Kuna as reporting.

Totally, 295 slaughtered sheep were given to 2,058 families settling in shanty towns in the strip.

Up to 80 percent of the Palestinians who are living in Gaza strip rely on humanitarian assistance to meet their basic needs for food, education, healthcare and shelter.

UNRWA condemned the Israeli siege on Gaza strip, enforced for the tenth year, saying the blockade undermined the Palestinians’ lives socially, economically and psychologically.

The marathon siege blocked dispatch of food and other basic supplies to the Gazans.

UNRWA’s humanitarian project has cost USD 250,000, with support by the Muslim Charity, where it supported the Palestinians refugees through the UNRWA since 2013 with a total amount of USD 12.6 million.

Muslim Charity is an international relief and development non-governmental organization (NGO) that aims to alleviate the suffering of the world’s poorest people, as well as responding to disasters and emergencies.

The association, registered as charity in the United Kingdom, was founded in 1999. (T/R07/R01)
