UAE Presents Its Halal Food Model at OIC Meeting

 

 

Makkah, MINA — The UAE participated in the thirteenth session of the General Assembly of the Standards and Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries, SMIIC, part of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, OIC, which convened in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, on November 5, 2018, WAM reported.

Abdulla Abdulqader Al Maeeni, Director General of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology,ESMA, headed the UAE delegation at the two-day meeting, which was attended by 34 member countries.

”The UAE is seeking to develop a unified system and brand that assists manufacturers and consumers produce and market their Halah products,” Al Maeeni told the meeting, explaining ESMA’s accumulated expertise in areas of Halal food and Halal National Mark, which he said was gaining increasing acceptance and recognition regionally and globally.

The meeting discussed the concepts of arbitration and ways to bolster standards relevant to Halal Food.(T/RS5/RS1)
