Washington, MINA – President of the United States (US) Donald Trump on Sunday officially announced the killing of ISIS group leader, Abu Bakar Al-Baghdadi in an attack led by US forces in Syria.

Trump in a televised address from the White House, Washington DC, said that Baghdadi killed himself with his three children by blowing up explosives-loaded vests when he escaped from US forces into a dead-end tunnel.

“He reached the end of tunnel when our dogs chased him. He lit his vest, killed himself and his three children. His body was chopped up by an explosion, “he said as quoted from Voice of America (VOA) on Monday, October 28.

The attack took place in the Idlib region, Northwest Syria on Saturday night.

“Baghdadi’s body has been positively identified through a DNA test 15 minutes after he died,” Trump said.

Trump claims no US soldiers were killed in the operation, but a large number of Al-Baghdadi fighters were killed.

Baghdadi’s death is an important victory for Trump after his sudden decision to withdraw US troops from Syria.

The decision has triggered strong criticism, including from fellow Republicans. The step is considered able to awaken ISIS. (T/Sj/P2)
