Texas, 17 Jumadil Awwal 1436/8 March 2015 (MINA) –  A leading US Muslim advocacy group has called on law enforcement authorities to address community concerns about what motivated the alleged killers of a 36-year-old Muslim who was shot Thursday while taking pictures of the snow.

“Because of recent incidents targeting American Muslims, including the murder of three young Muslims in North Carolina, we urge law enforcement authorities to address community concerns about a motive in this case,” Alia Salem, Executive Director of the North Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-DFW), said in a statement obtained by OnIslam.net early on Friday, March 6.

Reports on social media said that Ahmed Al-Jumaili was with his wife, who wears an Islamic head scarf or hijab, when shots were fired at the couple, On Islam quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Police say witnesses saw two men heading in opposite directions walk by and then come back and shoot Al-Jumaili. A bias motive has not been ruled out. After the shooting, the victim’s wife called 911 to report the shooting of her husband.

Several cars parked in the apartment complex were hit, including a truck that was struck with eight bullets. The owner of the truck said he heard about a dozen shots.

“I don’t care about the truck because you can buy another one or repair, but the life of the guy, you can’t repair the guy,” Jose Ortiz, the truck owner, told WFAA.

“He’s not coming back.”

The shooting is not the first to target American Muslims.
