Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Congratulates Indonesian President on 71st Independence Day

Bandar Seri Begawan, 14 Dzulqa’dah 1437/17 August 2016 (MINA) – Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, sent congratulatory messages to Indonesian President Dato Laila Utama Joko Widodo as well as the government and people of Indonesia on the occasion of their 71st Independence Day.

According to the Brunei Times, in the message to the Indonesian president, the Sultan expressed satisfaction with the warm ties and cooperation between Brunei and Indonesia.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah said he is confident that the warm ties will continue to be strengthened at the bilateral, regional and international levels.

In ending the message, the monarch and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha prayed that Dato Jokowi and Datin Ibu Hajah Iriana, the government and people of Indonesia will always be under Allah’s guidance.

Indonesia established diplomatic relations with Brunei Darussalam on 1 January 1984 after Brunei became a fully independent sovereign state. (T/R07/R01)
