Ramadan Momentum for Unity and Stopping Hostility

Jakarta, 8 Ramadan 1438/3 June 2017 (MINA)  – Chairman of the Indonesian People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan invites all components of the nation to take the lessons of Ramadan. All parties must refrain from attacking each other, mocking, scorning and insulting.

We have to leave the fuss and the row over tribes, nations, races and religions. Ramadan is the momentum of unity and stop hostility,” Zulkifli said when giving a speech at the breaking fast or iftar with President Joko Widodo, Friday night. Republika reported.

The Chairman hopes that all components of the nation should work together to support the development of the nation. The success of development will be able to prosper the whole society.

Instead of arguing, it would be better if all elements of the society unite and support the development in all fields,” said Zulkifli, “if the development is smooth, we are all be prosperous.

Zulkifli held an iftar with President Joko Widodo and the head of state institutions, leaders of the House  factions and groups, heads of bodies in the MPR.. .

Some ministers, TNI Commander and Chief Police also attending the event. In particular, MPR Chairman also invited leaders of Islamic organizations such as NU, Muhammadiyah, Persis, and other Islamic mass organizations. (P2/RS5)
