Qatari Ambassador, Medical Delegation Arrive In Blockaded Gaza

Gaza, 10 Jumadil Awwal 1438/8 February 2017 (MINA) – Qatari Ambassador and head of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, Mohamed Ismail al-Emadi, arrived in the blockaded enclave of Gaza on Wednesday via the Beit Hanoun (Erez) border-crossing.

Asenior delegation from the Qatar Development Fund, headed by Khalifa al-Kawari, and specialist doctors accompanied the ambassador, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

The envoy is expected to carry out an inspection tour to keep tabs on the developments of the reconstruction projects and attend a ceremony to deliver the second batch of apartments of the Hamad City housing complex in Khan Younis province, along with other apartments in al-Qustul, al-Houda, and Bissan neighborhoods.

Doctors are, meanwhile, expected to carry out surgeries for a number of humanitarian cases hospitalized in Hamad Hospital in the blockaded Gaza Strip.

The delegation will also inaugurate the Audiology Unit at the Hamad Hospital and set the foundation for the nearby Hamad Bin Jassim center for daily care.

The visit will reportedly last for over one week in order to follow up on the developments of the Qatari-funded reconstruction projects.(T/R04/P02)
