PFLP HOLDS UNRWA RESPONSIBLE FOR REFUGEES’ SAFETY

Gaza, 28 Rabi’ul Akhir 1436/18 February 2015 (MINA) – The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) held Tuesday (17/2) UNRWA responsible for the lives of Palestinian refugees who took shelter in its centers.

The responsibility is also shared by the PA and the unity government, the PFLP statement said, Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

The statement warned of a popular strong reaction that would have no mercy on all.

Those people (living in UNRWA shelter) will continue to suffer and the coming days will witness the death of more victims unless the neglect is stopped, according to the statement.

The PFLP stressed the need to stop the political bickering between Fatah and Hamas and to accelerate the national reconciliation.

The PFLP statement called on UNRWA to bear its responsibilities towards Palestinian refugees, to furnish appropriate shelter for all displaced families, and take safety measures for their protection.

Earlier Tuesday, a Palestinian infant died in a fire caused by an electrical short at the UNRWA-run al-Shawa school which shelters a number of Gazan refugees in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza Strip. Four other family members were injured during the incident. (T/P006/P3)
