Palestinians Slam US Threat to UNRWA
Ramallah, MINA — Palestinian Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh on Wednesday slammed the US threat to pull the plug over aid to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
“Neither Jerusalem nor the city’s sanctities are for sale,” Abu Rudeineh stressed, according to the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA).
Real peace and negotiations are based on the Arab and international legitimacy, for establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem a capital, he said.
Washington threatened to cut aid to UNRWA if the Palestinians did not make a return to negotiation with the Israelis.
If the US is keen on its interests in the Middle East, “It has to be committed to the principles and references of the UN Security Council (UNSC) and the UN General Assembly (UNGA), otherwise, it is pushing the region into abyss,” the spokesman warned. (T/RS5/RS1)
