Palestinian President Receives Phone Call from Indonesian Counterpart

President Joko Widodo strongly condemns the decision of President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Ramallah, MINA – The Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received a telephone call Friday from Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

The Palestinian News Agency WAFA reported that during the conversation, President Abbas briefed his Indonesian counterpart on the latest developments following the announcement by US President Donald Trump of his country’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

For his part, Widodo reiterated his country’s firm stance in supporting the Palestinian people’s struggle and legitimate rights.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (07/12) delivered a scathing rebuke, broadcast live on national television, to an announcement by US President Donald Trump that recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel — reversing seven decades of American foreign policy and in defiance of overwhelming global opposition.
