OIC FMs Condemns Iran’s Backing to Houthis’ Assault on Saudi Arabia

OIC denounces Iran for its destructive policies.

Jeddah, MINA – Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Sunday the Houthis’ Iranian-made ballistic missile attack on Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, last December 19, KUNA reported.

The foreign ministers, meeting in Jeddah at behest of Saudi Arabia, condemned Iran’s violations of OIC’s November 2016 meeting and relevant UN Security Council resolutions by supplying the Houthi militias with weapons and ballistic missiles.

They also denounced Iran’s interference in countries in the region, urging Tehran to “stop the policies that foment sectarian conflicts, and to stop the funding of terrorist groups.”

The top diplomats, in a statement after their meeting, voiced full support for Saudi Arabia’s counter-terrorism efforts with the objectives of preserving security and stability of the Kingdom.

They called for a collective action to stop these attacks and those behind them, as well as to punish smugglers of weapons to the Houthis.

The foreign ministers reiterated support for the legitimate government of Yemen and president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.

They called for supporting all efforts to reach a political solution based on the GCC initiative and its implementation mechanism, outcome of national dialogue and UN Security Council resolution 2216. (T//RS5/RS1)
