MUSLIM SCHOLARS CALL FOR YEMENIS TO SUPPORT PRESIDENT HADI

Sana’a, 28 Jumadil Awwal 1436/19 March 2015 (MINA) – International Union of Muslim Scholars (IUMS) yesterday called for the Yemenis to support President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, warning them against appealing to external powers to help them, alamatonline.net reported.

The call came in a statement issued by the Union and signed by its head Grand Scholar Yousef Al-Qaradawi and Secretary-General Ali Al-Quradaghi. The statement hailed the role of the Council of the Gulf States regarding the Yemeni issue, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

“The Union is looking optimistically to the efforts being exerted by the Council of the Gulf States aiming to bring the Yeminis together in order to protect Yemen’s unity and sovereignty under its legal president,” the statement said.

It referred to the call by the Council for all Yemeni factions to travel to Riyadh in order to talk and sort out the Yemeni deadlock.

The statement called for all the Yemenis to support the legitimacy of their state represented by its President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, warning that failure to do so would lead to the crisis worsening.

In the statement, the Union called for the Council of the Gulf States to adopt a strategy based on practical measures and mechanisms, as well as the effective political will and real sacrifices in order to reach safety and security in Yemen. (T/P002).
