MOON SIGHTING OF FIRST DHULHIJJAH SEEN IN INDONESIA
Jakarta, 1 Dhulhijjah 1436/14 September 2015 (MINA) – Crescent moon of early Dhulhijjah or known as hilal seen in some areas in Indonesia.
The moon sighting team Hisab and Rukyat Council of Jamaah Muslimin(DHR), Shamsuddin, Mulyono and Rochman, reported the hilal seen at Cangkir island in province of Banten, on Sunday afternoon (13/9).
Hilal also seen in Cakung, East Jakarta, by Al-Husiniyah Boarding School Team, namely Ardian and H. Labib with a height of 2 degrees, 43 daqiqah, duration 50 seconds, south sloping horizontal position of the sun, on 5:52 until 5:55 pm local time.
Yet, according to Imaam of Jamaah Muslimin, Yakhsyallah Mansur, his team are still waiting for Saudi Arabia official announcement expected today, as related to the implementation of the peak of Arafat (Wuquf ) during hajj in Mecca on 9 Dhulhijjah.
The Chairman of the council, KH Abu Muchtar Marsa’i said, according to the calculations of Hisab Falakiyah expert, on Sunday, September 12, 2015 (29 Dhulqa’dah in Islamic calendar) solar eclipse occurs in the South Indian Ocean, Madagascar, South Africa and the continent of Antarctica.
“This shows obviously that month Dhulqa’dah has ended, as each eclipses followed by ijtima’, the gathering of the sun, moon and earth in the same line,” he said.(L/P008/R04)
