Amman,24 Jumadil Akhir 1438/23 March 2017 – Jordan’s Awqaf and Religious Affairs minister Wael Arabiyat has said that his ministry will raise the number of its staff in Occupied Jerusalem to about 1,000 employees.

Arabiyat made his remarks following his meeting on Wednesday with MP Yahya as-Saud, head of the Jordanian parliament’s committee on Palestine, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

He pledged to provide the ministry’s staff members in Jerusalem with financial and moral incentives for the efforts they make to serve the holy city and the Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The minister reiterated Jordan’s outright rejection of Israel’s ban on the use of mosque loudspeakers to recite Adhan (call to prayer), saying the measure violates the freedom of worship and international norms.(T/R04/RS5)
