Al-Quds, 24 Rabi’ul Akhir 1437/3 februari 2015 (MINA) – The Jerusalemite activist Fakhri Abu Diab said that al-Aqsa Mosque will witness serious Israeli escalation over the coming days.

Speaking to the PIC on Wednesday, Abu Diab said that unprecedented Israeli settlers and military officers’ break-in into its plazas was carried out this morning under heavy police protection, The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting.

Nearly 20 Israeli soldiers in their military uniform stormed the newly-restored sites in the compound, he added, pointing out that Israeli occupation authorities had recently delayed restoration work inside the compound in order to prevent the detection of Israeli excavations conducted under the Mosque.

As the Jewish Holidays approach, the IOA encouraged and facilitated break-ins into the holy Islamic shrine, Abu Diab continued.

The Jerusalemite activist urged Jordan to assume its role as the custodian of holy Muslim sites in occupied Jerusalem and to immediately intervene to stop Israeli ongoing excavations under the Mosque.

Tensions have flared up at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in recent months, and many Palestinians fear that Israel is seeking to renege on a longstanding agreement preventing non-Muslim prayer in the compound and allow Jewish settlers’ free access into the holy Islamic site.(T/P008/R07)
