Israel Violates International Law, UN Must Not Be Silent

New York, MINA – UN Coordinator for the Middle East peace process Nikolai Mladenov said, Israel has been violating international law by killing Palestinian children and expanding illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.

It was presented by Mladenov at the UN Security Council meeting on Wednesday about the situation in Palestine, Palinfo reported.

“Israel does not taken any steps to stop the construction of illegal Jewish settlements on occupied Palestinian land, and this is a violation of international law,” Mladenov said.

He said, Israel expelled more than 40 Palestinian families for the construction of Jewish settlements around Silwan, East Jerusalem, and killed children aged 14-16 in the southern Gaza Strip.

Mladenov also added that Israeli forces stormed Ramallah, they raid into the Palestinian News Agency (Wafa), and injured many Palestinians.

Meanwhile, Mansour Al-Otaibi, UN Representative from Kuwait said Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity toward Palestinians.

He condemned the aggressive actions carried out by Israeli occupation soldiers, extremists and settlers against Palestinian cities, villages and refugee camps.

Al-Otaibi reiterated on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to provide protection to the Palestinians based on UNSC Resolutions 605 and 904 which stipulated the termination of Israeli violations against Palestinians.

He stressed that the UN Security Council should not remain silent in the face of crimes committed by Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

He also asked Israel to stop all illegal Jewish settlement construction activities in the occupied Palestinian territories. (T/Sj/RS5)
