INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING COULD MANAGE DEVELOPMENT PROBLEMS

Jakarta, 19 Dzul Qa’dah 1436/3 September 2015 (MINA) –  However, in asia, infrastructure developmemt is seen as one of the keys of sustainable economic growth’s increasement.

This was stated during the international conference organized by Bank indonesia (bi) and the international monetary fund (imf) themed “the future of asia’s finance” in Bank Indonesia, jakarta, wednesday (2/9).

Bank indonesia’s governor agus dw martowardjojo said that his institution believes the indonesian government is currently seriously developing infrastructure and interconnection among regions.

“This would of course require a lot of funding, where steps have been taken to make the funding available, among those by ways of reducing fuel subsidy, in order for the country to have more fiscal. Not to mention the the establishment of ppps, agus elaborated.

He believes that one of the country ‘s economical challenges lies in the difficulty to gain funding to tackle infrastructure gap.

“Moreover, the paramount role of financial deepening and financial inclusion is also important in guarding the stability of a wider and more  inclusive monetary system,” added agus.

Discussion in the conference consisted of three sub-themes; financing for development, mobilizing resources for development and financial deepening and inclusion.

The discussion aimed to produce a wider view in terms of boosting economic growth and to preserve asia’s economic sustainability, especially in Indonesia. (L/P010/NFTH)
