Indonesian Rock Climbing Athlete, Aries Susanti Rahayu Breaks the Record

Xiamen, China, MINA – Indonesian rock climbing athlete, Aries Susanti Puji Rahayu, who always wears the hijab, won a gold medal and broke the record for the speed women class at the IFSC World Cup Rock Climbing Cup in Xiamen, China, Saturday (19/10).

Competing with world rock climbing athletes, Aries defeated Yi Ling Song (China) in the final with the best time of 6.995 seconds. While the opponent left behind with a time of 9,032 seconds.

Aries time record (24 years) at the same time recorded a world record for speed women numbers. Indonesian women’s rock climbing athlete became the first woman in history to record a time under seven seconds.

Aries’s achievements are more complete with the impressive appearance of a woman from Grobogan who was nicknamed ‘Spider-woman’ since the qualification round. Aries never recorded more than 7.5 seconds. His worst time is 7.387 seconds, which he made in the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, to win a bronze medal won by Russian women’s rock climbing athlete, Mariia Krasavina after defeating Anouck Jaubert of France in the race for third place with a gap of almost seven seconds.

This Xiamen tour is the 13th series in the 2019 Rock Climbing World Cup series. However, the speed numbers followed by Aries are only held in six series (Moscow; (series 2), Chongqing (3), Wujiang (4), Villars (7), Chamonix (8), and finally Xiamen (13).

National Climbing Manager, Asep Rachmat revealed, if Aries Susanti had time to recover from a finger injury before participating in this championship.

The IFSC World Cup in Xiamen is a warm-up place ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo which is approaching. At the 2018 Asian Games, Aries Susanti also won two gold medals. (T/Ast/P2)
