Indonesian Disabled Athletes make Achievements in 2019 Tunisia World Championship (Doc: Indonesian Embassy in Tunis)

Tunis, MINA – Indonesian diffable athletes have managed to make proud achievement in 2019 World Para Athletics Tunisia Grand Prix which takes place 24 June -1 July 2019 at Rades Athletics Stadium, Tunis, Tunisia.

Until closing ceremony, Indonesian contingent managed to get 18 medals with details of 5 gold, 11 silver and 2 bronze.

Indonesian Ambassador to Tunisia, Ikrar Nusa Bhakti, received a special honor to hand over gold medal to Indonesian athletes, among others, on behalf of Zainal Arifin in number 100 M wheelchair.

Indonesia was ranked sixth in the world championship which followed by more than 40 countries in the world.

According to the Indonesian Embassy in Tunis report, Monday on July 7, Indonesia sent contingent of 22 people consisting of 14 athletes, 7 coaches and assistants and 1 manager.

Indonesian Ambassador and staff, PPI representatives and Indonesian Citizens in Tunisia also watched live during the match. Indonesian citizens join in giving enthusiasm to Indonesian athletes by shouting “Indonesian Champion” throughout the match.

On this occasion, Indonesian Ambassador in Tunis greatly appreciated the spirit and fighting Indonesian athletes in the midst of physical limitations and hoped that this event could encourage Indonesian disabled athletes to perform better in 2019 World Championship in Dubai and 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan.

In organizing the World Athletics Tunisia Grand Prix 2019, 14 Indonesian participants were included by the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee (KPNI) to compete in 20 match numbers from the number of 106 contested matches. (T/Sj/P2)
