Indonesia Conveys Palestinian Issues in ASEAN-US Meeting
Bangkok, MINA – ASEAN-United States Ministerial Meeting was held in Bangkok, Thailand on Thursday, August 1. During the meeting, Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi stressed three things, including the Palestinian issue.
Indonesia, in this case, encourages the United States to help Palestine in realizing just peace and Palestinian independence based on the Two States Solution.
“Palestinian issue is very close to the hearts of Indonesian people,” said Retno.
In addition, the Foreign Minister said that Indonesia appreciated the presence of US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo. It shows the commitment of the United States in strengthening cooperation with ASEAN.
Foreign Minister also conveyed that the world was filled with uncertainty and more challenges that must be faced together.
“To overcome this situation, Indonesia believes that there is no other way for us, for ASEAN and the United States to increase cooperation to make the world a better place for all”, said Retno.
The meeting is part of a series of ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting and ASEAN Dialogue Partners which was held on 30 July-2 August 2019. (T/Sj/P2)
