INDONESIA’S CHANCE TO BE DEVELOPED AND PROSPEROUS COUNTRY WIDE OPEN

Photo: sektab.go.idJakarta, 29 Shawwal 1436/14 August 2015 (MINA) – The President of Republic Indonesia, Joko Widodo said, Indonesia actulally has a wide open opportunity to become a developed and prosperous country, look at the social and economic capital owned.

Jakarta,  29 Shawwal 1436/ August 14 2015 (MINA) -Indonesia’s chance to become a developed and prosperous nation based on its own social and economic capital is wide open, President Joko Widodo said.

President made the remarks before an annual plenary session of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at the Parliament House here Friday.

He said, Indonesia has  big and creative population,  fast growing middle class community, democratic political system, a moderate Muslim society, and becomes the 16th economic power in the world with Gross Domestic Product GDP)  estimated at US$ 915 billion.

“With hard work, optimism, and changing consumer attitudes to be productive, we will be a dignified country among the nations in the world,” he said..

The acceleration to be a fair and prosperous country will require the support of all the people of Indonesia, and is largely determined by the performance and compactness State Institutions, the Head of State said in a press released issued by the State Secretariate and received by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA).

“Compactness will also strengthen the presidential system so that government becomes stable. Thus, the government will be able to protect the entire Indonesian nation and the entire country of Indonesia, promote the general welfare, the intellectual life of the nation, and participate in implementing world order based on freedom, lasting peace and social justice, “said Jokowi.

Start the Nawacita

In that speech, President Jokowi also said, since the Labour Cabinet was formed, the Government is gradually running the national development program as outlined in Nawacita (Nine Priorities Agenda). The government, said Jokowi, to transform economic fundamentals and change the development paradigm of consumer goods into productive.

President mentioned, to leverage economic growth, in addition to encouraging the development of creative economy, the government focus on infrastructure development such as highways, railways, ports, dams and power plants. The government also divert subsidies to productive sectors and social safety nets.
“Now the government is distributing Indonesia Healty Card, Indonesia Smart Card, Card Family Welfare and Social Assistance for Persons with Disabilities weight,” said President Jokowi.

MPR plenary session was also attended by Vice President Jusuf Kalla, former President BJ. Habibie, former President Megawati Sukarnoputri, former Vice President Try Sutrisno, former Vice President Hamzah Haz, former Vice President Boediono, the heads of state institutions, and the Labour Cabinet ministers, and heads of Non-Government Institutions.(L/P008/RO6)
