INASGOC Will Perform More Test Event in February 2018

Jakarta, MINA – The Indonesian Organizing Committee of the Asian Games 2018 (INASGOC) will hold a Chef de Mission (CdM) Meeting and the oficial test event on nine sports in February 2018.

The INASGOC Chairman Erick Tohir explained that nine sports that will conduct the test event are weightlifting, taekwondo, boxing, martial arts, athletics, soccer, basketball, indoor volleyball, and archery.

According to him, a series of programs is expected to finalize the work of the organizing committee to reach the peak readiness on Day H, during the opening ceremony at the majestic Bung Karno Main Stadium Stadium.

“There will also be a torch relay that will pass through six points (cities) in Indonesia with the distance covering 10 thousand km,” Erick said when delivering a report on “Public Expose, Progress Report of the 2018 Asian Games Organizing” in Jakarta, Monday (11/12).

The event was also attended by editors-in-chief including Ismet Rauf from MINA News Agency, who was one of partners in the successful implementation of the event to be followed by 45 national Olympic committees (NOCs).

The Asian Games, which run from 18 August to 2 September 2018, will feature 40 sports and 462 matches. The number of athletes who will compete is estimated to reach approximately 10,000 participants.

The Asia’s biggest sporting event was first held in New Delhi, India, in 1951 and first staged in Indonesia in 1962. (L/R04/RS5)
