GOV’T SPOKESPERSON: QATAR TO CONTRIBUTE $20M FOR GAZA SALARIES

Ramallah, 16 Sya’ban 1435/14 June 2014 (MINA) – The government spokesperson said the Qatari government will transfer a sum of $20 million over three months to help pay salaries to the former Gaza government employees.

Mr Ihab Bseiso said in a statement that Qatar Prime Minister, Abdullah bin Nasser, promised the Palestinian Prime Minister, Rami al-Hamdallah, to pay portions of the salaries to the 40,000 Gaza employees – appointed since 2007 by the Hamas administration.

“The government will single out a special fund for the Gaza civil servants in conjunction with the work of the administrative legal committee, which would contribute to solving the salary crisis,” he said, ALRAY, Palestinian Media Agency quoted by Mi’raj Islamic News Agency (MINA) as reporting..

The administrative legal committee was set up by the consensus government to help address the civil and the administrative problems arising from the seven-year-long division.”

He said that the respective committee shall work on the basis of fairness, equality, and partnership between the Palestinian people; it shall make best use of the potentials available in a way that treats the inflated state employees’ problem.

Bseiso appreciated the Arab and international efforts towards helping the government end the effects of Palestinian division and achieve the Palestinian unity.(T/P02/E01)
