Al-Quds, 27 Muharram 1438/28 October 2016 (MINA) – The Supreme Council of Religious Ruling (Fatwa) in Palestine warned Thursday of the Israeli ongoing excavations under Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The ongoing Israeli excavations may lead to the collapse of Al-Aqsa and the neighboring buildings at any moment, the council warned, the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reported.

The council called on the Islamic Nation to stand firmly against the Israeli escalated excavations and break-ins into the holy shrine.

The Fatwa council pointed out that Israeli provocative break-ins into Al-Aqsa have notably increased after UNESCO’s resolution that denies any Jewish link to Al-Aqsa.

The council also condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s participation in the excavations works under Al-Aqsa Mosque.

“We call on the free world to act urgently to stop the Israeli excavations under and around Al-Aqsa and to put an end to the escalated settlers’ break-ins into the holy shrine,” the council said, holding the Israeli authorities responsible for the implications of such violations.

On the other hand, the council welcomed UNESCO’s resolution over Al-Aqsa Mosque and occupied Jerusalem, and denounced the Israeli attack on Bab al-Rahma cemetery.  (T/P008/R07)
