Jakarta, 21 Dzulqa’dah 1436/6 September 2015 (MINA) – Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi said his country has much to learn from Indonesia, and explained that he received a lot of feedback when he met Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Thursday (4/9) at the State Palace.
One of them, he said, on the issue of combating radicalism and the process of building a democratic country.
Egypt is facing endless internal conflict with the opposition who claims al-Sisi as a coup dictator.
In his capacity Jokowi delivered inputs to Egypt to promote Islam as blessing for the universe (rahmatan lil Alamin).

“In developing Islamic value rahmatan lil Alamin and democracy, Egypt said it wanted to learn a lot from Indonesia,” Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi explained after the bilateral meeting.
Retno added that indonesia has offered to help Egypt to combat radicalism, by which of sending a delegation to promote and share the values of unity.
Asked by reporters about the Al-Sisi as a controversial figure in the eyes of the world because he is known as a coup dictator, Retno said that so far Indonesia has a good relation with Egypt as two democratic countries, and Al-Sisi repeatedly expressed his country’s desire to learn democracy in Indonesia.
“A democratic country like Indonesia listens to what the people say, the president also explained that democracy is beneficial hence Egypt expresses its willingness to learn from Indonesia,” said Retno.

In addition, the meeting also discussed bilateral economic cooperations in trade and investment.(L/R04/NMT)
